I have an interdisciplinary background that connects Sport [BA(Hons) Sports – UFRGS], Business [MPhil Business: Marketing – UFRGS], and Sociology [PhD Sociology and Social Policy – Durham University], and a particular interest for how the cultural phenomenon of sport can help explain our current social conditions across the world. My passion for sport and world cultures is matched by my fascination for media and technologies.
What I seek in my work is to understand how the world of sports reflects changes in societies, especially by looking at current trends associated with social media, technology, and big data. My research have appeared in different journals as Current Sociology, International Review for the Sociology of Sport, and Journal of Sport and Social Issues and I have presented my ideas at numerous conferences as the ones from the European Sociological Association, British Sociological Association, International Sociology of Sport Association, and the European Association for Sociology of Sport.
Since 2016, I am a Senior Lecturer in Sport Business and Marketing at Leeds Beckett University where I am also the Course Leader for BA(Hons) Sports Marketing. Before that I held a Lectureship in Sport Management at Coventry University (2014-2016).
